Heading to Dendy Street Beach this summer?
It’s full steam ahead on the construction of the new Life Saving pavilion at Dendy Street Beach, so here’s what you need to know to plan your next visit.
Access to the beach
A short section of the beach promenade path and the access ramp adjacent to the Life Saving club will be closed from 11 January 2023 so we can reconstruct the heritage listed bluestone seawall and beach access ramp. We’re reinstating an accessible viewing area as part of these works. Beach visitors using the promenade path can access the beach and bathing boxes from the sand via breaks in the seawall, or via marked pedestrian pathways from the Esplanade. During these final stages of construction works, people with accessibility requirements including wheelchair and pram users should view the precinct and bathing boxes from the Green Point lookout.

You’ll get the best views of the precinct and photos of the iconic Brighton Bathing Boxes from the lookout at Green Point.
Public toilets
While the Life Saving pavilion is under construction, temporary public toilets are located at the southern end of the bathing boxes, opposite the Norwood Ave and Esplanade intersection.
