Here’s what’s in store for Black Rock

Wednesday, October 9, 2019

Council has developed a draft plan for enhancing the Black Rock Shopping Village.

Previously we’ve asked the people who live, work, and spend time in Black Rock for their ideas on how we can enhance the look and feel of the village.

Based on your feedback we are proposing a number of upgrades for the centre including:

  • Updating the pavement with a mix of asphalt and decorative paving
  • Updating street furniture, signage and lighting
  • Planting additional street trees and garden beds
  • Installing signage to improve wayfinding in the area.

We have developed a few different design options for these key elements and need a local perspective on the material options you think will work best. These improvements will help to ensure the village remains a unique and vibrant hub for locals to enjoy all year round.

Public toilet upgrade

Council is also building a new accessible toilet in close proximity to the foreshore playground.  The new toilet will be built under the current Black Rock Foreshore Masterplan. More information on the facility’s design and its location is available online or in person.

Have Your Say

Don’t miss the opportunity to help shape the next steps before we finalise the streetscape design in 2020.
