Lights on for dogs this winter

We’re expanding the areas where Bayside’s dogs and their owners can exercise and socialise safely.

During winter, we’re trialling turning sportsground lights on one evening a week at three popular dog off-leash sportsgrounds, while they are not being used for sport.

Sportsground lighting will be turned on between 5:30pm and 8:30pm at:

  • RJ Sillitoe Reserve, Hampton on Mondays
  • William Street Reserve, Brighton on Tuesdays
  • RG Chisholm Reserve, Sandringham on Fridays

The pilot program will run from 30 May 2022 until 19 August 2022, and is a key action from the Domestic Animal Management Plan 2022-26.

During the trial, we’ll be gathering feedback from the community about their experiences to understand if the program should be continued or expanded.

We’ll be talking to people on the ground and monitoring sportsground condition to evaluate the success of the program.

Share your experiences of using these sportsgrounds during the trial
