New members appointed to the Bayside Arts and Gallery Advisory Committee
Council has appointed two new members, Adrian Spurr and Louise Doyle, to the Bayside Arts and Gallery Advisory Committee. The appointment increases the number of members to ten, consisting of eight community members and two Councillors.
Adrian Spurr is the co-founder of Sunshine Print Artspace, a not-for-profit open access Print Studio, and BIG Sculpture Australia. He was a former leader of Arts and Performing Arts at Brighton Secondary College for 20 years.
Louise Doyle has a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from Australia National University and was most recently employed as Head of People and Change at the University of Melbourne. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and former board member of Cultivating Communities and the Lost Dogs Home.
Bayside Mayor Cr Hanna El Mouallem said the new additions to the Advisory Committee would be joining a high calibre group with an integral role in arts and culture across Bayside.
“Bayside has a commitment to nurturing creativity as we understand the importance of arts and culture in fostering a vibrant, connected community,” Cr El Mouallem said.
“The Advisory Committee plays a fundamental role in ensuring we continue to grow arts and culture in Bayside. Adrian and Louise complement the diverse skills of the existing members and I look forward to their contribution moving forward.”
The Advisory Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on a range of matters including the annual arts program of public events and activities, commissioning of public art, and the acquisition of items to the Bayside Council Art and Heritage Collection in accordance with the Bayside Arts and Heritage Collection Policy.
The carefully considered appointments were made following an expression of interest process calling for people that could represent a range of views and interests with experience that is relevant to the Bayside Arts and Gallery Advisory Committee’s purpose.
