Opening up = enjoy, be safe and kind

Great work Bayside – our strong vaccination numbers are leading the way with 94.1% first dose and 80.4% second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Thanks to these efforts and the rest of Victoria passing the 70% fully vaccinated target, we have taken the next step in Victoria’s COVID-19 Roadmap with the easing of restrictions.

You must be fully vaccinated to visit some businesses or participate in some activities.

Please be kind to our local businesses and their staff if you are asked to show proof of vaccination - we are all finding our way in the new COVID world and a little bit of patience will go a long way.

New restrictions from midnight 21 October

  • 10 people including dependents can visit your home per day
  • 15 people can gather outdoors
  • All school students return on-site at least part time
  • Community sport training returns for minimum required to hold training
  • Pubs and clubs can open to 20 fully vaccinated people indoors and 50 outdoors
  • Entertainment venues can open to 50 fully vaccinated people outdoors.
  • Funerals and weddings allowed for 20 fully vaccinated indoors, 50 fully vaccinated outdoors
  • Hairdressing and personal care is open for up to 5 fully vaccinated people.
  • See the full list of current restrictions here.

Masks are still required both indoors and outdoors for all Victorians.

Remember the COVID-19 basics

With the easing of restrictions while case numbers are high, it’s up to all of us to be COVID-19Safe.

This includes checking in wherever you go, wearing a mask, practicing good hand hygiene and getting tested if you have any symptoms.

You may need to show proof of vaccination status to enter a business premises or community facility.

Find out how to get your digital COVID-19 certificate here or call Services Australia on 1800 653 809 and ask them to send your Immunisation History Statement to you.

What comes next

We are looking forward to opening up Council facilities at the next milestone in the Roadmap.

Our libraries, customer service counter, Bayside Gallery, Community Nursery, Men’s Sheds and more are preparing to reopen on or around 5 November. We will confirm details as soon as we can.
