Wednesday, May 22, 2019

Council will launch National Reconciliation Week with a flag raising ceremony at 9.30am on Saturday 25 May at Bayside's Corporate Centre located at 76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham. All are welcome.

Bayside Mayor, Cr Michael Heffernan will join Carolyn Briggs, Elder of the Boon Wurrung people and a family member of the late Ellen Jose (Torres Strait Islander Elder) to raise flags symbolising reconciliation.

The theme of this year's National Reconciliation Week from 27 May - 3 June is Grounded in Truth - Walk Together with Courage.

A special feature of this year's ceremony will be the announcement of the winners of the inaugural Ellen Jose competition.

Council has recently developed a draft Reconciliation Action Plan and is calling for volunteers to join a Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group. Read more
