Temporary path closure at Black Rock Beach

As we progress with the construction of the new Black Rock Life Saving Pavilion, there are some necessary changes to beach access from the Bay Trail path. Here’s what you need to know to plan your next visit.

Access to the beach

A short section of the Bay Trail path including the access ramp adjacent to the life saving club will be closed from 13 February 2023 so we can safely demolish and construct the existing pavilion.

Beach visitors using the Bay Trail or shared path can access the beach from the Gordon Crescent Staircase or via the Black Rock Playground path.

The Gordon Crescent staircase and Black Rock Playground path will remain open to provide beach access throughout the entire construction period.

During these stages of construction works, we recommend beach visitors who require ramp access enter the foreshore via the Black Rock Playground path.

Public toilets

While the life saving pavilion is under construction, the nearest public toilets are located within the Black Rock Gardens, opposite the Black Rock Clock Tower.

We’re excited to be delivering a new modern, fit for purpose life saving pavilion that will serve our community for many years to come. While construction is in progress, please observe site signage to ensure your safety.
