What to do if you get Covid

Knowing what to do if you test positive for COVID-19 will help you and your family get through it with less stress.

Department of Health guidelines require you to quarantine at home for 7 days.

People you live with or have spent more than four hours with at home must also quarantine for 7 days.

Tell friends and family you have spent time with recently, your employer and the school or day care centre your child attends that you have tested positive for COVID-19.

Explain you have spent time together and they should get tested.

They can access up to date information at the Coronavirus website.

Monitor your symptoms

If you are:

  • feeling a little unwell but generally okay (able to walk around the house and do normal activities) rest, drink lots of water, eat healthily and keep taking your usual medications.
  • feeling very unwell, tired and struggling to take care of yourself call your GP or Nurse-On-Call (1300 606 024) as soon as possible. They will advise you what to do.
  • having difficulty breathing and cannot take care of yourself, call Triple Zero (000) and tell them you have COVID-19.
