To celebrate Bayside Gallery’s 10th anniversary and our latest major show, Bayside: Portrait of place– we invited our community to create their own Portrait of Place. Thank you to everyone who submitted their photos and artwork of their chosen place in Bayside.

We’re excited to announce the winner of the Portrait of place competition is Steffie Wallace with her atmospheric painting titled Sunset, Middle Brighton. Congratulations, Steffie.

"As a local artist who has lived here for many years, I count my blessings. Memories of whole days spent at this beach; swimming, reading, walking, watching sunsets with loved ones, are instantly recaptured during my lockdown walks, bringing an enduring peace in this time of change and challenge." Steffie Wallace

Curator Joanna Bosse also selected six ‘highly commended’ entries from a very strong group of largely photographic works. Congratulations to Cinda Manins, Rowena Meadows, Sharon Flanagan, Annee Kelly, Penny Chadwick and Pilar de la Torre. Each will receive a copy of Bayside: Portrait of place catalogue.
