We are working to support our community and continue to provide essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to current restrictions Council facilities are currently closed to the public.

We are closely monitoring the ever-evolving COVID-19 pandemic and actively taking steps to mitigate the impact and spread of COVID-19 based on the advice of the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Please do not attend any Bayside City Council facilities or services if you are unwell or have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19.

Impacted services

Services for our aged care and delivered meals clients are continuing following strict hygiene and social distancing guidelines. Find out more about the services available to assist you or the person you care for, remain independent, active and socially connected.

The Bayside Corporate Centre customer service counter is currently closed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Find out more here.

Bayside beaches, boat ramps, jetties and piers are open.

Men's Sheds and Seniors' Citizens Centres are currently closed.

The Peterson Youth Centre is currently closed. 

Council and Committee meetings will proceed online however the meetings will be livestreamed via Council’s website. Public questions will be read out at the meetings. Find out more about arrangements for Council meetings.

Our immunisation sessions will continue as advertised but bookings are now essential. Please ring Family Services 9599 4755 to make a booking.

We will be enforcing strict hygiene and social distancing guidelines at all immunisation sessions. 

We offer vaccinations for those over the age of 65 years, and those between 5 and 64 years of age with an underlying medical condition. 

Those eligible include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy) and medical conditions that put the individual at risk of severe influenza and its complications.

Bayside Libraries at Sandringham, Beaumaris, Hampton and Brighton are currently closed due to COVID-19  restrictions.

Bayside playgrounds, skate parks, seniors exercise equipment and the outdoor gym equipment at Dendy Park are closed.

Kerbside collections continue to operate as usual. Please place your bins in easy reach. If you bin can’t not be reached, it may not be emptied.

Hard waste service continues as normal.

The Bayside Waste and Recycling Centre is open to the public.

Support for residents during COVID-19

We are here to support our residents through this uncertain time.

Council’s Hardship Policy can be applied to ratepayers who are having difficulty paying their rates as a result of COVID-19. Make a rates payment arrangement.

Our Community Support Line is open for all residents experiencing hardship or vulnerability due to COVID-19.

Services available include emergency food relief, delivered meals, referral to specialist agencies, social connections program and help with shopping and in home care.

There are many services available to support residents in Bayside during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We provide a range of services designed to support older residents, or the person you care for, to stay active and independent for as long as possible:

  • Showering and hygiene assistance
  • Safety related home maintenance
  • Respite care.

Our staff adhere to strict health and hygiene guidelines as outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services.

If you have family, friends or neighbours who can shop for you, please utilise their support. 

Family and friends can also help you to order shopping online to be delivered to your door. You can ask that your shopping is left at the door to minimise contact with other people.

Free care packages are available for residents with no access to food and essential supplies under a program introduced by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services to support people in mandatory self-isolation, who have little or no food, and no network of family and friends to support them. Call 1800 675 398 to order a care package.

BayCISS provides emergency relief by offering food parcels and/or vouchers, information, advocacy, casework and referral services to residents experiencing isolation or financial difficulty.

Please visit the agency located at 12 Katoomba Street, Hampton East or give us a call on 9555 9910.  Opening hours are 10am to 2pm each weekday.  If you are unable to get through on the phone, you can email or via their website.

Many local pharmacies will do home deliveries. Call your local pharmacy to check if they will deliver.

Australia Post has launched a Pharmacy Home Delivery Service to support vulnerable members of the community and those in self-isolation, so they can have ongoing access to essential medications. Check with your local pharmacy to see if they are part of this service.

We can help you stay connected during self-isolation. We have staff that can visit you in your home or have a chat through our new social connection program.

We can also connect you to other local agencies or support services for additional assistance. Avoiding social isolation is an essential part of maintaining our residents’ health and wellbeing.
