RAS Assessment Information
The Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department) has announced the introduction of the Integrated Assessment Tool (IAT), replacing the National Aged Care Screening and Assessment Form for assessing eligibility for government-subsidised aged care. This marks the initial phase of implementing the Single Assessment System, designed to simplify access to aged care and adjust services as older individuals' needs evolve. As the assessment landscape is experiencing significant change and transformation, with the number of Regional Assessment Service (RAS) providers reduced from 75 to 12 as of July 2024. This shift has involved approximately 11,000 to 12,000 clients during the transition.
