Peterson Youth Centre hire – frequently asked questions

Who can hire the Centre?

Please note the Peterson Youth Centre and outdoor surrounds are alcohol, smoke and drug-free.

We accept hire applications from organisations, schools, registered groups and private practitioners.

We give preference to not-for-profit organisations that provide programs for young people aged 10–25 within the City of Bayside. The hirer must have current Public Liability insurance and must supply proof of currency.

How much does it cost?

The use of the centre will incur the following hire charges for each category:

  • General cost is $33.10 per hour
  • Community groups may be eligible to receive a 50% discount
  • Community groups or schools made up of young people under the age of 25 years may be eligible to receive a 100% discount. 

Please note we may request documentation that proves your organisations status before allowing a discount to be applied. Charges may change without notice.

Can my group use the facilities?

Groups are welcome to use the facilities however, they will be expected to repair or replace any equipment that is broken during the hire period.

What facilities and equipment does the centre have?


  • Heating/air conditioning units
  • Male and female toilets
  • An accessible toilet with hoist
  • CD player with a speaker to the main space
  • Tea/coffee making facilities

Main space

  • Hardwood floors
  • Five couches (seats 6)
  • Two table tennis tables
  • One pool table (with hardtop cover so can be used as another table if necessary)
  • One foosball table
  • Three café tables with nine chairs
  • One large table with four chairs
  • Three additional folded tables
  • Projector screen (BYO laptop)

Counselling/consulting rooms

  • 2 sofas plus 4 chairs (suitable for counselling)
  • Carpeted flooring
  • Coffee table
  • Blinds for privacy


  • Linoleum flooring
  • Stainless steel benches
  • Electric oven and cooktop
  • Basic cooking equipment (Baking trays, pots, pans, measuring cups and utensils)
  • Crockery and cutlery
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Fridge/freezer (however food items may not be stored in the fridge outside of hire times)
  • Some small electrical equipment (mixers, blenders, food processors and toaster)
  • Microwave
  • Dishwasher (all dishes must be returned to original place at the conclusion of the hire time. Dishes cannot be left in the dishwasher overnight).
  • Optional storage tubs to keep items at the Centre

Group workroom

What do hirers need to bring when hiring the Peterson Youth Centre?

  • Consumables (such as food, milk)
  • Tea towels (if undertaking cooking activity)
  • PA equipment
  • Any program supplies needed to run their specific activity

Will we need to share the space or can the entire centre be hired?

Co-use is encouraged but the entire Centre may also be booked by paying users if requested. It is understood that for some uses co-location may be suitable and preferred but not in all cases. Hirers can choose this option through the expression of interest form.

Who do I contact in case of an emergency?

During office hours, Monday – Friday, 8.30am to 5pm call (03) 9599 4622.

After hours call (03) 9599 4444 for entry issues ensure that your swipe has been updated at a 'hotspot'.

Do I need to provide a cleaner?

We expect that the Centre be returned to the condition in which it was found. A checklist and map will be provided to remind you of what to do on your departure.

How do I book a room/space?

Complete an expression of interest form detailing referred times/dates and other requirements.
