VicSmart applications

Straightforward, low-impact planning applications are now being decided using a simple and fast permit process known as VicSmart. Under the new state-wide system, certain applications are exempt from public notice and planning decisions must be made within 10 business days.

Faster permits for simple applications

VicSmart applies to planning permit requirements for some types of subdivision, car parking waivers, removal of individual trees and minor works to commercial buildings and heritage places. Applicants will still have a right of review to VCAT if their application is refused. Council has been busily preparing for the introduction of VicSmart, changing work systems so that applications can be decided within the 10 day timeframe.

To see if your application can be processed using VicSmart go to the VicSmart website or contact our Statutory Planning Department on (03) 9599 4666.
