Walks and trails smartphone app

The Bayside coastal trail, walks and architectural trails can be all enjoyed as an immersive audio smartphone app, which has hours of high-quality narration to listen to as you explore the walks and trails.

What is it?

The walks and trails app expands on the stories behind each of the items of interest in Bayside's trails, so you can learn even more about your favourite featured artist or listen to the tales of the Boon wurrung as you travel along the same area that they have inhabited for so many thousands of years.

Integrating the full 17km of Bayside's walks and trails suite on Google Maps, you can find the exact location of:

  • all the 90 coastal trail signs
  • Bayside's most interesting architecture spanning 150 years
  • historical, environmental and indigenous features of interest
  • parking
  • public amenities
  • where to grab a bite to eat
  • ideal spots to enjoy views of Port Phillip Bay.

How do I get the app?

You can download the app on iTunes.

You do not need Wi-Fi to download the app, however, we advise you to check your phone's mobile data allowance prior to downloading some of the larger trail audio tours. All libraries within Victoria provide free Wi-Fi, alternatively you can go to one of Bayside's libraries.

We encourage you to consider alternatives to travelling to or within Bayside by car, as the municipality is gifted with various public transport options with the easiest, and most convenient of these is rail. The Sandringham railway line is a regular service from the Melbourne CBD and stations particularly close (5 minute walk or less) to the foreshore include Brighton Beach, Hampton and Sandringham.

To enjoy the Bayside walks and trails in complete comfort, consider taking sunscreen, water, a hat and walking shoes
