Your payment options for rates

Paying in full

Unless you have previously arranged to pay your rates by instalments or direct debit, rates are due in full on 15 February 2018.

Paying by instalments

If you are paying by instalments, the first instalment is due by 30 September 2017. Payments received after this date will be treated as part payments only, and will require that your rates are paid in full by 15 February 2018. Reminder notices will be sent for instalment payers only.

Prompt payment discount

A prompt payment discount of 1.2% is available if you choose to pay in full by 31 August 2017. The discount is calculated on the current year’s rates and charges, and excludes the Victorian Fire Services Levy. The discounted amount is shown on your rates notice.

Please note that under the provisions of the Fire Services Property Levy Act, any payments received are allocated to both rates and charges, and the fire services levy, therefore to qualify for the discount the total amount owing (less the discount) must be paid.

Payment methods

Online

Pay your rates securely online by card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express only). Please note that a surcharge of 0.69% for Visa or Mastercard or 1.4% for Amex will apply.

Direct debit

Direct debit allows your rates to be debited from your savings or cheque account on the due date. Credit cards are not accepted.

There are 3 payment options available:

  1. A total of nine direct debits can be made from October to June or alternatively
  2. Four instalments as specified on your annual rate notice
  3. Full payment on 15 February each year

If selecting option 3, please supply a mobile number (above) to receive an SMS reminder prior to payment. No SMS reminder will be sent for options 1 or 2.

If your account is overdue, you may set up a payment arrangement via direct debit with either fortnightly or monthly payments. These amounts will not be automatically adjusted in future years, so you are required to adjust these payments to ensure that your future accounts will be paid on time. The direct debit will continue until the account paid in full, and may recommence each July until it is cancelled.
