The design development process for the Beaumaris Sports Club pavilion is well underway and on track to commence construction mid-2015.
The new pavilion will serve as a single facility for the local football, cricket and tennis club clubrooms.
The proposed building will include a function room, foyer, lift, gymnasium, kiosk, meeting room, kitchen and storage area, members’ sports bar and café and an extensive balcony.
Council will directly contribute $1 million towards the project as well as $175,000 though in-kind project management costs. The BSC has attracted grants and undertaken fundraising activities towards securing additional funding towards the total $4.1 million project costs.
Cr Laurence Evans said while the project had more than $3 million available to complete construction, the project currently had a shortfall of more than $800,000 to achieve the $4.1 million target.
“Council is committed to partnering with the Beaumaris Sports Club to guide this project to completion,” Cr Evans said.
“We will continue to discuss fundraising and grant making activities with Beaumaris Sports Club representatives to ensure this project goes ahead to achieve the best possible outcomes for the community.”
Design work is expected to take six months and will be guided by a Project Reference Group.
