Annual Community Grants

We invite local not-for-profit groups that contribute to making Bayside a better place to live to apply for a community grant.

Council's Annual Community Grants program supports initiatives proposed by community groups which strengthen and enrich community life through the provision of an improved range of leisure, cultural, community development, environmental, health, education, sporting and welfare programs and activities.

The annual community grants program aims to:

  • To assist community organisations to establish, extend and improve programs and services that address local needs.
  • To encourage voluntary activity, community participation and the contribution of local groups and organisations to community life.
  • To promote community development and partnership opportunities to address community needs.

Applications for Bayside's Annual Community Grants 2022/23 round will open at 9am 4 April 2022 and close 5pm Wednesday 18 May 2022.

Grants of up to $7,500 each are considered for initiatives by eligible community groups that meet the objectives of our Grants Policy and the Annual Community Grants Guidelines.

Council will determine the grant allocations at the August Council Meeting.  All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application and successful applicants will receive funds in September.

Effective Grant Writing Workshops

To support Bayside's community groups to submit their applications, we are hosting two free effective grant writing workshops, one in person and one online. As the same session will be run twice, you only need to attend one event.

Build your understanding of what is required to successfully apply for and report on grants. This fun and hands-on workshop will focus on transforming your ideas into fundable concepts and will walk you step by step through the process. Including:

  • Where to find the money
  • Writing a killer 50-word grab
  • Working with partners
  • Building a budget
  • Answering the ‘sustainability’ and ‘evaluation’ questions

Session 1 - Wednesday 2 March 9.30am - 12pm at the Bayside City Council offices
