Timing

Works commenced in mid-December 2023 and the reimagined off-leash dog park reopens on 30 April 2024.

This project will take approximately 20 weeks to complete, weather permitting. This consists of 12 weeks for construction and 8 weeks for the new grass to establish. Works were not conducted during the Christmas holiday period from 22 December 2023 until 8 January 2024.

What to expect during works

Works will be conducted between 7am to 5pm, weekdays. The dog off-leash area will be closed for the duration of the works. The playground and eastern end of the Reserve will remain open.

While the dog off-leash area at Wishart Reserve is closed, there are three nearby off-leash areas to enjoy:

  • W L Simpson Reserve – 81 Fewster Road, Hampton
    • Off leash dog park
    • Approx 700 metres away
  • R J Sillitoe Reserve – 2-20 Lawson Street, Hampton
    • Off leash dog park
    • Approx 600 metres away
  • Dendy Park Brighton East (off leash) – 51 Cummins Road, Brighton East
    • Off leash dog park
    • Approx 2 kms away

Where possible, parts of the off-leash area will be opened over the Christmas and New Year holiday period (21 December 2023 to 8 January 2024) to facilitate use while the contractor is not working.

Works will be managed to mitigate impacts on surrounding residents, although there will be some noise during the installation of infrastructure.
