Bayside Celebrates National Tree Day
4 July 2013
More than 1000 indigenous trees, ground covers, grasses, shrubs and climbers will be planted over two sites on the Sandringham foreshore to celebrate National Tree Day on Sunday 28 July, 2013.
This planting day will be hosted and coordinated by Bayside City Council and Citywide. Additional volunteers will be made welcome so for further information contact Council on 9599 4444.
On Saturday 13 July, Bayside City Council’s Community Nursery will hold an open day to celebrate National Tree Day between 9am and 2pm. The Nursery is located at 319 Reserve Road in Cheltenham.
The Nursery open day provides a great opportunity to purchase from a wide range of indigenous plants that have been propagated and grown at the nursery.
The plants on offer do not require any fertilisers and/or pesticides and will not require watering once they are established.
The Bayside Nursery holds four open days every year. Three of the open days are scheduled to coincide with dates of environmental significance - Arbor Week, National Tree Day and National Threatened Species Day.
Visitors to the Community Nursery open day are asked to bring a big or box to take their plants home in.
For further information about the next Bayside Community Nursery open day, residents should contact the Bayside Community Nursery on 9583 8408 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
