Reminder - Bayside Full Rate Payment Due in February
13 January 2014
Bayside residents who have chosen to pay their 2013/14 rates in full are reminded that they have until Monday February 17, 2014 to do so without incurring late payment interest.
Rates can be paid in a number of ways including:
- Visiting Australia Post in person or over the phone.
- Online using BPay through participating financial institutions.
- By mail, sending a cheque attachment to the payment slip at the bottom of the rate notice addressed to Bayside City Council, Corporate Centre, 76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham 3191.
- In person at Bayside Council’s Sandringham office.
Council provides an SMS reminder service for those paying rates in full. Property owners and any other ratepayers wanting to take part in this optional SMS mobile or home telephone message service can register online at www.bayside.vic.gov.au/payments or emailing Council at email@example.com.
“We have made it as easy as possible to help residents pay their rates,” said Bayside Mayor Laurence Evans.
“They can do so online, by phone, or by calling into Council – we understand people are very busy so Council offers as many payment options as possible.
“We also understand that some ratepayers may experience difficulty paying their rates. These ratepayers can contact Council's Revenue Services prior to the due date to confidentially discuss their situation,” he said.
Penalty interest applies if payment in full is not received by this date and details of this can be found on the rate notice. The late interest charge is 10.5% as fixed under the Penalty Interest Act 1983.
Residents paying their rates in instalments have until February 28 to make their third payment and until May 31 for the fourth and final payment.
For further information residents should telephone Council on 9599 4444.
