Bayside Literary Festival 2008 bookings open!!!
This year Bayside Library Service will be hosting the first Bayside Literary Festival from Friday 16 to Sunday 25 May. There will be numerous events hosted throughout the week by various Bayside Literary groups, authors and library staff. If you book into an event you will receive your Bayside Literary Festival Discount Card. The program is now available for you to pick up from one of your local branches, or you can view it here.

New! Online Resources. Keep an eye for the recommended Online Resource of the month. 

Bayside Library Service is pleased to offer you some great new electronic resources in addition to your existing favourites, like Britannica.  Find reliable information from resources that Google can't with these new online databases. All you need is your Bayside Library Service membership card number.  There are some new and exciting databases that will appeal to a variety of ages and which specialise in specific subjects including:

  • Australia / New Zealand Reference Centre
  • Choice Magazine 
  • Novelist
  • Science Resource Center

May's recommended Online Resource:

You can use Fiction Connection to discover titles similar to books you already enjoy. Readers advisory at its best. Use it to locate fiction suggestions, or search in categories such as: topic, genre, setting, character, locations and timeframe.

The Biggest Morning Tea: All library branches are hosting a morning tea to help raise money for the Cancer Council. Thursday 8 May, 11.30am to 12pm @ all Bayside Library branches.

Forum Italiano: Monday 12 May @ Brighton Library, 6pm to 8pm. This workshop will honour the Italian Nobel Iaureate Luigi Pirandello and explore his play Six Characters in Search of an Author.

Homework help @ Home: Free demonstration for parents on library databases that can help children with their homework, 10am to 11am @ Brighton Library

Munching May: Cook like a Chef seminar @ Beaumaris Library, 2pm to 3.30pm (Booking is essential)

Coastline Poetry Workshop: Wednesday 4 June 10.30am to 12.30pm @ Brighton Library (Booking is essential)
