This book is an intriguing novel expressing the hardship that is in Afghanistan. Showing what even children go through there. This a novel that would suit 10-13yo. If your up for a child striving to save his parents and a sister with a heart of courage then this book is for you. Make sure you read the second 'Girl Underground' (not as good as the first)

Title: Danny the champion of the world
Author: Dahl, Roald
Review:
the main characters in the book are Danny, his dad, Dr Spencer and Mr Victor Hazell.Danny is a nine year old boy with his fun, loving dad. his fatherwas a mechanic but struggled to make ends meat. Despite being poor, they were very happy. Dannys father was a whose only fault was stealing pheasants. Dr Spencer had been looking after the towns people for neally 45 years and was over 70 years old. He to loved poaching and helped to hide the pheasents from Mr Victor Hazell. Mr Victor Hazell was the richest man in town and the owner of the pheasants. He was the nastyest man and people didnt like him. He owned a silver rolls royce and had an enormous pink berry face. the social message of this novel is that happinesscomes from love and friendship, not money. i highly recomend this book for people under 13 years of age. Its a funny, fast paced adventure and the main charactors are likable.

"Looking for fantasy?Well...hmmm...lets see what I can do....ah...yes...why don't you try this book...'Dragon Rider?" "Thanks, but..uh...what's it about?" Dragon Rider is about a dragon called Firedrake, who sets off from his home because the humans are coming to flood the valley. Sorrel, a brownie (an angry one!) comes with him. The meet a boy, Ben, who is a street boy. They go on an adventure to find 'Rim of Heaven' where all dragons can live peacefully. Unfortunaelty (did I spell it write?) Review:
Waiting for the new Harry Potter book to come out? Try Magyk. Magyk has a lot of characters but the main are: Jenna, Marcia Overstrand, Boy 412, DomDaniel and more. Jenna is the daughter of the dead Queen. A wide amount of characters try to defeat the Dark Magyk. Silas Heap's seventh son is carried away dead and he gains a daughter, Jenna. She, as they later realise, is the daughter of the dead Queen. The Assasian comes to kill Jenna and they go to the Marram Marshes where Aunt Zelda lives. They go along with some of the family members, Marcia Overstrand (ExtraOrdinary Wizard and Boy 412. As are followed by the Hunter and DomDaniel, bits of fun are added such as the Magogs. It is full of back-prickling moments and fits of laughter it is a very good book that is easy to follow. I would rate it a 10/10! Full of action, suspense and adventure I love this book. I can't wait to read the next book, 'Flyte' which is onloan!!! I would recommed this book for 9(10)-12(13) year olds. Genre: Fantasty, adventure.

Title: Series of unfortunate events
Author: Snicket, Lemony
Review:
“If you are interested in stories with happy endings, you would be better off reading some other book.” This is the opening sentence in the first book of the wonderful book series, "A Series of Unfortunate Events", by Lemony Snicket. This series tells the tale of the three Baudelaire children, Violet, Klaus and Sunny, who lead lives filled with misfortune. Their troubles begin when a terrible fire destroys their home, their possessions and their parents. After that, they are sent to a variety of locations to live, ranging from a lumbermill to a high-rise apartment building, and all the time they are pursued by Count Olaf, a despicable villain, who was their first guardian after their parents’ death. Wherever the children go, Count Olaf finds them, and thinks up a new plan to steal the large fortune that the Baudelaires’ parents left behind. You can see that the storyline itself is quite unfortunate; however, Lemony Snicket provides comic relief with strange, dark humour. The series begins with "The Bad Beginning", and goes on until book the thirteenth, "The End" (thirteen books - I’m sure that wasn’t an accident). There are also two spin-off books (called supplementary materials) : "Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography" and "The Beatrice Letters". All in all, I think "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is a fantastic book series, and I hope you will love it as much as I do.

Title: The bamboo flute
Author: Disher, Garry
Review:
The Bamboo Flute is about a boy named Paul. When Paul’s parents sell the piano his life becomes dull and boring but when Paul is walking to school he sees a man called Eric the Red. He teaches Paul how to make a flute. This book is a great read but I didn’t understand the first three pages of the book. The words in this book are very descriptive and you can see the picture in your mind in every page. I would recommend this book for ages 8\11 because the language the author uses is very difficult for younger readers. The ending was very unpredictable. I would rate this book a 4 out of ten because I didn’t like it that much but it doesn’t mean that you can’t read it!

Title: The bamboo flute
Author: Disher, Garry
Review:
I thought The Bamboo Flute was a very interesting book. It is a book by Garry Disher. I recommend it for ages 9 to 12. I think people that like music might enjoy it. It’s a book about Paul who wants music in his life but no one has time for that. Eric The Red teaches Paul how to make a flute out of bamboo. It had a good start. The words in it were very descriptive. It created pictures in my mind. I would give it a six out of ten because it was not very good for me, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read it.

Title: The bamboo flute
Author: Disher, Garry
Review:
The Bamboo Flute is full of unexpected surprises. It is an interesting book about Paul and his lifestyle. Paul is an ordinary boy who lives a life without music. Then one day he comes across a man who can help him. The Bamboo Flute is for readers who like a little bit of suspense and drama. I personally rate this book 8.5 Hopefully there will be a Bamboo Flute II.

Title: The bamboo flute
Author: Disher, Garry
Review:
If I saw this book in a book store I probably wouldn’t buy it. It is good book for someone who wants an easy read or a different story. This book would be good for ages 8 to 13. I don’t think that this book was the best I’ve read but it was pretty good. This type of book isn’t really my favourite. This book was really based on facts. The characters in this book were all too perfect in their places. But the setting didn’t work for me. There should be something unexpected in it; not all predictable. Garry Disher wrote this book with a lot of passion I didn’t love it but maybe you can. Rating: 5/10
Review by: Lily

Title: The bamboo flute
Author: Disher, Garry
Review:
I would read The Bamboo Flute again and pick up the things I didn’t understand. The ending was quite unexpected. I also thought all the characters had different personalities which gave them a way of talking, their looks and their way of acting . The Bamboo Flute is mainly about a boy named Paul and his bamboo flute. I would recommend this book for the ages 9-13 for the understanding of stories based on historical facts. Paul is a dreamer, and that is why his nick name is “Sunshine”. When reading this book you could have difficulties understanding the language the author has used. Therefore younger children would not understand it. My rating would be 9/10!

I am obsessed with the mystery of the loch. I was searching in the library for some imformation books and I found this one. It is the best Nessie info book through my searchs. Title: The sisterhood of the travelling pants
Author: Brashares, Ann
Review:
Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants is the first book in 4 books. The first one I would recommend it for 11/12 year olds but the other books I highly recommend that students younger than 11/12 do not read it as it contains mature material not suitable for young children. The book is FANTASTIC. It is NOT just a girly book. It has a true meaning of friendship, love and a strong bond. I just don't know how to explain it.... it is mind blowing. 4 teenagers, 4 different problems, 1 pair of 'magical' pants, tears, laughter, hope, EVERY SINGLE THING... A truly good book!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ann has created the 'atmosphere' of the book is such a way that you will cry, you will laugh, your heart will ache with sorrow. I love this book. Absolutely love it. Love it. One of my favourite reads!!!

Title: Thora (series)
Author: Johnson, Gillian
Review:
I think that the Thora series is based on girls from 8-13. There are only two books out so far and hopefully there will be more. If I had to rate Thora out of 10 I would give it 10000000000000000/10.Now I will tell you a little about Thora. Well she is a 12 year old girl who is half human and half mermaid. She has to hide her secret. Her mum is a full mermaid and her dad who disappeared is a full human. In the first book she has to save her mother who got captured by evil guy Frooty De Mare. And in the second one her pet sea-unicorn is stolen and her house/boat sinks and she has to live in Mr Walters (her guardian) Families Mansion.I dont want to tell you anymore coz i dont want to give it away.

Title: Vicky Angel
Author: Wilson, Jacqueline
Review:
I just finished this book and I personally think its an excellent read. Its basically about Jade, this skinny, placid girl in Year Nine, who is used to and looks up to her best friend, Vicky. Sick of being bossed around and idolised by Vicky's sparky, amazing life, they get into a fight, but when a tragic accident happenes, Jade cant't belive she isn't there anymore. When Vicky arrives as the amazing, Undead, Vicky Angel, Jade is relieved. But soon enough, Vicky is everywhere, making Jade's like a misery. this is a story about doing new things and learning to let go. I rate it *********/**********.
