Local Safety Comittee meeting in action

The Bayside Local Safety Committee

The city of Bayside has formed a Local Safety Committee that is responsible for the development of strategies to address safety issues in Bayside. The committee comprises of representatives from the Victoria Police; Bayside City Council; Department of Employment, Education and Training; Vic Roads; Department of Infrastructure and Department of Human Services.

Aims:

The aims of the Local Safety Committee are to:

  • identify local community needs and safety expectations;
  • decrease community fears concerning crime; and
  • increase public confidence in the overall management and effectiveness of local community safety.

The Local Safety Committee will not address issues of an individual nature unless they have ramifications for the wider community. Issues of an individual nature should be raised directly with the appropriate agency.
