Jane Burton: Returning
Exhibition: 2 September - 5 November
Bayside Gallery is thrilled to showcase its newest exhibition Jane Burton: Returning from 2 September to 5 November.
Nationally renowned photographer Jane Burton works largely with female subjects to create mysterious images with gothic overtones. Her works often allude to the histories of the sites she depicts, capturing elemental remnants associated with past activities and personalities.
Billilla Mansion Lightbox project
Commissioned to produce three works for the Billilla Mansion Lightbox project, Burton’s engagement with the Council-owned site has yielded a major new series of works that communicates with a sense of drama the richness of the homestead’s lived history. This series will feature in the exhibition alongside recent figurative works from the A phantom lover series (2020) and the complete series of ambrotypes from her 2022 series Kingdom of pleasure which explored childhood recollections of St Kilda’s Luna Park.
