What's on at Billilla

We are hosting a number of events in the gardens of the historic Billilla mansion during 2024 as part of our reactivation of this wonderful community facility.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s in store.

Outdoor Arts Lab

This is a series of artistic explorations commencing with two sound artists, Zela Papageorgiou and Hamish Upton, between 23 January and 4 February. The artists will create an atmospheric and responsive performance work on site.  The artists will have access to the gardens from 8am – 8pm.

Papageorgiou creates, performs and collaborates in the field of contemporary-classical and improvised music. Upton plays with the ensemble Speak Percussion and was a performer at Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Opera Under the Stars by Parlour Opera

Pack a picnic with your family and friends and enjoy the sound of opera classics floating on the night air under the stars on Saturday 24 February, 7pm – 9pm.

We’re very excited to welcome back these talented artists who performed at Kamesburgh Gardens in 2023.

We are encouraging patrons to walk, ride or use local transport to travel to the event and car pool and obey parking signs. We will also ensure the lawns are neat and tidy after the performance with any staging packed and removed by 9.30pm.

Art Arboreum (working title)

Themed around the gardens and the magnificent trees of Billilla, this event on Saturday 13 April will feature artists from diverse genres and styles throughout the gardens and gazebo, but particularly under the trees.

Bring a picnic or enjoy food from a range of vendors before you meander around the gardens and engage with a variety of art forms al fresco. There’ll also be children’s activities to delight younger visitors.

More details coming soon.
