Free resources to access books (ebooks), audiobooks, magazines and movies via Bayside Libraries

We offer a range of services which allow you to access books, audiobooks, newspapers, magazines and movies online via your online library account.

All of these resources are searchable online in our library catalogue and are completely free.

You can download many of these resources on your mobile or tablet and access them offline.

Making the most of our online resources

 

Borrowbox 

Bolinda Borrowbox provides access to both ebooks and eaudiobooks.

To log into Borrowbox from the app, search ‘Bayside Library Service – VIC’. You will need your library ID/barcode and your password/pin.

 

Libby 

Libby by Overdrive also has both ebooks and eaudiobooks, while it has recently absorbed the content from RBDigital to include a wider range, plus magazines and comics.

It can be access via their website or app. To login to Libby by Overdrive using your library ID/barcode and your password/pin.

Log into Libby by Overdrive by following these steps:

  1. Answer 'Yes' to the first question 'do you have a library card?'
  2. Select 'I'll Search for a Library'.
  3. Enter 'Bayside Library' in the ‘Library name’ field, then select 'Bayside Library Service' from the results.
  4. Select 'Enter Library Account Details'.
  5. Enter your library ID/barcode and your password/pin.
     

Story Box 

Story Box is a digital library of videos being read aloud for children from the ages of 3-12.

To access Story Box you will need to enter your library barcode, including the X. If you only have a web ID you will need to add X3191 to the start of your web ID.

For example: X3191C5562D

 

Kanopy 

Kanopy allows our members to access up to 10 videos/shows per month. Each movie/show can be accessed for 3 days.

To access Kanopy, you will first need to access Kanopy via a web browser and create an account.

If you have a web ID only you need to include the X3191. For example: X3191C5562D

Verify your email and then you can access this via a browser or by downloading the app.

 

PressReader 

PressReader has thousands of magazines and newspapers from around the world.

To access PressReader via web browser, you will need to log into our library website, select browse in the top menu bar, and select ‘elibrary’.

In elibrary, click on ‘Read’ which will take you to all our elibrary reading resources. Log in with your Library ID/Barcode, without the X, and enter your password/pin.

To access PressReader via the app:

  • Download the app from your relevant app store
  • Select ‘sign in’ at the top-left corner of the screen
  • Press the ‘Library’ button and then ‘select library or group’ drop down box
  • Search for 'Bayside', select ‘Library – Bayside Library Service’
  • Log in with your library details and password (if using web ID put X3191 in front)

Gale Virtual Reference library - Travel guides Online allows access to full-text and fully searchable DK Eyewitness Travel Guide e-books. Travel guides detail major sights, suggested hotels, restaurants, entertainment, and outdoor activities.

Britannica Library is a safe, up-to-date and age-appropriate information resource for patrons of all ages. Discover encyclopedia articles, journals, periodicals, atlases, dictionaries and more.

Oxford University Press is the premier online reference product, spanning 25 different subject areas, bringing together 2 million digitized entries across Oxford University Press’s Dictionaries, Companions and Encyclopedias.

Australian and New Zealand Reference Centre provides a collection of leading regional and international periodicals, full-text reference books, full-text biographies and a collection of images containing photos, maps and flags.
