Explore Bayside this summer

Thursday 23 December 2021

Stretching along 17 kilometres, Bayside’s stunning coastline runs through the suburbs of Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Black Rock and Beaumaris.

Our beautiful beaches are great locations for summer relaxation and recreation, so check them out.

If your favourite sandy strip is busy on a sunny day, try somewhere new. Each is as wonderful as the others but has their own delightful characteristics.

Summer reading

Download some ebooks or magazines from the library to enjoy at the beach, on holidays or by the pool.

We have about 3000 online for you to choose from -whether you’re a home and garden aficionado, like to indulge in a little celebrity gossip or love all things food and wine.

There are more than 280,000 music titles to be streamed, just over 14,000 fiction eBooks, more than 3000 non-fiction eBooks and thousands of videos.

Find them via our website’s Library page or download our new Bayside Library app.

Summer wandering

Bayside’s parks and open spaces are perfect picnic spots or ride or walk the scenic Bay Trail.

You could also take a leisurely walk through the streets, parks and suburbs via our 9 trails designed for people of all ages and levels of fitness.

Each trail provides a suggested route, estimated time and distance, information about accessibility, and locations of public services and places of interest.

Summer beachy fun

Each year during the January school holidays, Coastcare Victoria, delivered by the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP), coordinates the free ‘Summer by the Sea’ activities all along the Victorian coastline.

In 2022, there will be a mixed model program including face to face, online and campaign activities.

There’s something for everyone. Check out the activities here.

Summer say

In your quieter summer moments, help make Bayside the municipality you want to see by having your say on our projects that are open for community feedback.

Be COVID safe this summer

Whatever way you choose to enjoy Bayside, be sure to stay safe and be kind.

Summer Safe COVID-19 restrictions apply to the whole of Victoria.

COVID Safe travelling means packing a few extras in your bags – face masks, hand sanitiser and hand soap.

Victorians aged eight years and older will have to wear masks in all indoor settings - except private homes - and at all large outdoor events.

Check out the latest COVID-19 restrictions and COVID safe settings via the Victorian Government Coronavirus website.
