Metro conducting works in Sandy

Metro will be conducting critical safety works on the Sandringham Line in September.

The works form part of Metro’s annual works program to maintain and renew the rail network.

The Abbott Street, Sandringham level crossing will be temporarily closed from 9:00 pm Sunday 17 September to 4:00 am Wednesday 20 September.

The Sandringham Station car park will be temporarily closed from 10:00 pm Wednesday 13 September to 6:00 pm Friday 22 September.

Buses will replace trains from 3:00 am Monday 18 September to 8:30 pm Friday 22 September.

Traffic management and detours will be in place via Station, Beaumont and Trentham Streets, to assist vehicles moving through the area. Pedestrians are advised to detour via the Bamfield Street rail underpass or Bay Road.

During these works, there will be an increase in trucks in the area. Machinery will be in operation during these works, and high to medium levels of noise are to be expected.

Please allow for additional journey time when travelling through the area.
