Safer cycling for Beaumaris students

To provide a safer cycling route for cyclists, and to improve safety for pedestrians and road users, we’re proposing to install no stopping restrictions at specific times on Balcombe Road, between Reserve and Charman Roads.

The no stopping restrictions on school days will apply on the south side of Balcombe Road between 8am and 9am, and on the north side between 3pm and 4pm (excluding the angle parking at Seaview shops and existing bus zone).

The proposed changes are in response to advocacy from resident groups after reported near misses between cars and students. Aligning with Bayside’s Integrated Transport Strategy, Balcombe Road is also included in the Principal Bicycle Network (as identified by the Victorian State Government).
