Brighton Recreational Centre damaged by fire

Early this morning there was a fire in the gym at Brighton Recreational Centre in Outer Crescent, Brighton.

The centre was empty at the time and has been closed during the current COVID-19 lockdown.

The fire is thought to have been started by an electrical fault.

The building is structurally sound however has been affected by significant smoke and water damage. Further assessment of the damage is now underway.

The centre will be closed until further notice.
