Bayside Carers Corner

All unpaid carers who live in the City of Bayside are welcome to join us at Bayside Carers Corner.

Come along to hear our interesting guest speakers, enjoy a cuppa and meet others with similar experiences.

Sessions are held fortnightly from 10:00 – 11:30 am at Peterson Youth Centre, corner Peterson St and Highett Rd, Highett unless otherwise stated.

Dyan Ostrow – Chair Yoga

For those looking to learn to move and breathe in a gentle, mindful way, chair-based yoga is a wonderful exercise accessible to anyone with limited mobility or flexibility. Come along and take part in a class run by Dyan Ostrow – qualified yoga teacher, counsellor & private carer.

Hearing Australia 

Presentation and hearing screenings available by Hearing Australia. Hearing screenings will be available for free to all carers and the people they care for on the day.

Black Rock House Tour

Black Rock House is one of Melbourne's historic jewels, enjoy a guided tour learning about the intriguing history of the house built by Charles Ebden, Victoria's first Auditor-General. Morning tea will follow the house tour.

Mary-Claude Vienet – Dance Movement Therapist

Dance movement therapy is the use of dance and movement to further physical, emotional, cognitive and social functioning of a person. Hear from Mary-Claude about the benefits of dance therapy and ways you can incorporate it into your role as a carer.

Join us for a conversation and morning tea to learn more about how you can protect yourself from mistreatment as well as help your friends and family to access support if needed.

Art Class with Kerry Evitts – 26 Advantage Studio

Come along and have some creative fun painting your own art pot. Kerry’s artwork is vibrant and full of life, she will work with you to create a piece at the 26 Advantage Studio that you can take home and enjoy.

While attendance is flexible, we ask that you book in advance to assist us with catering.
