A Billilla Afternoon: Music, Dance, and Theatre in the Gardens

Join us at the gardens at Billilla Mansion for an afternoon of music and entertainment under the trees. Enjoy bands on the lawn, pop up Shakespeare, dancing on the patio, kids activities and roving performers that will bring Billilla Gardens to life for one beautiful bayside afternoon.

Bring a blanket and picnic or enjoy delicious treats from the Country Women's Association Bayside, a sausage sizzle from the Brighton Lions Club, and recharge with a selection of beverages from the coffee and drink cart.

You can pre-order your picnic treats in advance from Limoncello before the event. Please note that orders close on Friday 12 April at 12pm. Don’t miss out, as there will be limited quantities of food for purchase from Limoncello on the day.

All entertainment suitable for children.

Big Fiddle Little Fiddle - Cello and violin uplifting and jaunty folk music.

12.30-3.30pm 
Shaketh’Speare - Pop up Shakespeare performances around the garden. 

1-4pm
Biscuit Readings - Betty and Bert engage in the most traditional form of fortune telling there is. What biscuit are you?

2-5pm
Charlotte Raven - Victorian era poet to write and read you an ode.

All day
Brighton Art Society - Painting plein air.

12-3pm
The Wikimen (two sets) - Marvellous swing, jazz, Hawaiian blues, pop and exotica music for your listening and dancing delight. 

2-4pm
Rhythm of Life African Drumming (two sets) - Lessons and performances in Guinean percussion.

2.30-5.30pm
Amla - Multi-instrumentalist (flautist, violinist and vocalist) who creates original and improvised ethereal and worldly soundscapes.

4-5.45pm
Swing Patrol - Performances, lessons, and free dancing on the side patio.

6-7pm
Eclective String Quartet, all your favourite pop classics performed as the sun sets on Billilla.

Walk, ride or catch public transport to Billilla and park responsibly if driving.

Dogs are welcome to A Billilla Afternoon but please keep them on leash at all times. Owners must pick up after their dogs and have effective control of them at all times. 

Toilets – There will be toilet facilities and one accessible portable toilet available at the event site. 

Quiet zone – There will be a quiet zone located behind the house where patrons can go to experience an environment with lesser noise and activity. 

Seating – Seating is very limited. Patrons are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or a chair.

Please note some areas of the gardens may not be accessible to all.
