Central Bayside Community Health Services (CBCHS) is a not-for-profit organisation providing a wide range of services to support healthy living, general wellbeing and social connection in our community.
The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a government-funded program that matches a volunteer visitor with a lonely or isolated older person living in an aged care facility or in their own home.
The Volunteer and resident are matched according to similar interests or background. The visits are regular and purely social, with the intention of developing an ongoing friendship and social connectedness. Loneliness is a real challenge faced by many vulnerable people in our community. This challenge can be even greater where language is also a barrier to social connection. Do you speak a second language? We have residents who would love to be matched with a volunteer they can chat to in their first language!
Volunteering can be an extremely rewarding experience for everyone involved. If you would like to make a real difference in the life of an older person in your community and can spare an hour per fortnight, we would love to hear from you!
Join Us! We provide ongoing training and support to all our volunteers.
