Driver and Transport Assistance Volunteer

Bayside Community Information and Support Service (BayCISS) is a not-for-profit organisation based in the Bayside and Kingston area providing support, advocacy, referral and information including counselling and case work, to vulnerable and low-income community members.

We aim to bring about long term, positive change to people’s lives by working with them.

We are:

  • Non-judgmental – we respect all people and do not judge
  • Accessible – we are available to people when they need support
  • Flexible – we provide a range of services and links with partners
  • Collaborative – we work with others in partnership

Key Function:

The Driver and Transport Assistance Volunteers’ primary role is to be available to collect items on behalf of BayCISS such as FoodBank orders, fruit and vegetable donations, children’s packs (clothing, nappies, toys), prepared meals or occasionally assist caseworkers in the procurement and delivery of household goods for clients.

Drivers can commit to regular weekly or fortnightly tasks or join our list of occasional drivers who prefer to be contacted for one-off tasks or locum work.

This is done while operating within the agency’s policies, procedures, standards and relevant Government legislation, Laws and Acts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be available to pick up and drop off various food orders throughout the week.
  • To assist with the collection and delivery of household items for clients as needed.
  • To communicate unavailability to the manager as soon as possible so alternate arrangements can be made.
  • Adhere to the BayCISS Code of Ethics.
  • Operate in accordance with Occupation Health and Safety Requirements
