Low waste living workshops

In anticipation of the upcoming bin collection changes scheduled for July 2022, we're supporting our residents in reducing the amount of waste we're producing as a community by providing workshops encouraging waste avoidance.

The avoidance of waste is the best thing we can do reduce our overall waste footprint and preserve precious resources. This can easily be achieved by choosing to refuse single-use items and opting for reusables where possible.

Check out upcoming low waste living workshops below and register today:

Reusable nappy workshop: Cloth Nappies 101

As the title suggests, this is a comprehensive introduction to cloth nappies, and suits both expectant
parents, and those who already have children in nappies. The presentation covers:

  • the benefits of cloth nappies (environmental, economical, etc.)
  • the different styles (fitteds, pockets, AI2s, prefolds etc)
  • how to wash them, and
  • hacks to make cloth super easy.

With over 60 nappies and accessories, participants can not only ask questions and be shown a wide variety of cloth nappies, but also other reusables such as ‘pull ups’, swim nappies and cloth wipes.

Reusable menstrual products workshop: Eco-friendly periods

This workshop suits those who want zero-waste periods but are unsure how to take the next step. The
presentation comprehensively covers:

  • washable cloth pads
  • menstrual discs and cups
  • absorbent period underwear
  • how to wash and care for them, and
  • which reusable product may suit their needs.

LGBTIQA+ inclusive, this workshop is a safe space for all, with no gendered language used.

All things reusable: Everyday reusable items

This workshop is all about the reusable alternatives to everyday household items; perfect for those in the
community starting out on their zero-waste journey. The presentation shows reusable substitutes for
items such as paper towel, tissues, make-up removal, plastic wrap, face wipes, shopping and produce
bags. Cloth nappies and menstrual products are also covered but aren’t discussed at length, as compared
to the dedicated sessions above.
