3D printing at Bayside Libraries

What's the process for 3D printing?

  1. Complete this form and upload your file.
  2. We test your file for errors, if there is an error we will contact you via email.
  3. If there are no errors you will receive an email confirmation that your printing request has been approved.
  4. Once the job is complete, you will be notified by email to collect it from your nominated branch.

Key information regarding this service

  • Print jobs that take longer than 4 hours will not be accepted.
  • Dimensions of objects for 3D print must be smaller than 240mm x 240mm x 340mm.
  • Only library staff have access to the 3D printer. Print jobs are moderated and manually queued.
  • There is no guarantee that a print job will be successful.
  • All customers must comply with the copyright laws of Australia.
  • Only standard PLA filament will be used for 3D printing.
  • Requests will be completed and ready for collection within 5 working days of the receipt of an error free file. 

To make sure your model is printed correctly, please review the full terms and conditions below.

  1. The customer submitting a 3D file for printing is responsible for ensuring the model is error free. Bayside Library Service accepts no responsibility for the design, creation or storage of any 3D file. There is no guarantee that a print job will be successful. Library staff are not responsible for any damage to the item during removal from the build plate.
  2. All customers must comply with the copyright laws of Australia.
  3. Library staff are unable to assist with designing objects or the use of design software
  4. 3D printing is a staff mediated service – only library staff will have access to the 3D printer and print jobs will be moderated and manually queued. A customer submitting a file must:
    • Complete a 3D Printing Request
    • Provide the 3D file in .STL format
    • Ensure the file is error free
    • Ensure the print job is the correct size
    • Pay for any associated cost before printing commences.
  5. If the 3D software detects errors in the file, the customer is responsible for correcting the errors before the print job can be commenced.
  6. At the discretion of library staff, Bayside Library Service reserves the right to refuse production of any content at any time. Examples of specific content that will not be produced include, but are not limited to:
    • Content that may infringe upon the intellectual property rights of a third party.
    • Content that may be construed as having intent to harm.
    • Content that incorporates sexually explicit material, or infringes upon the safety and security of minors.
  7. By submitting content for printing, the customer agrees:
    • To assume all responsibility for the model including its design, the quality of the end product and its use.
    • That Bayside Library Service under no circumstances will be held liable for any matters related to patented, trademarked, or copyrighted materials, any damage resulting from the use and/ or application of a completed model.
    • That Bayside Library Service is not responsible for any damage, loss, or security of data arising from the use of its computers or network, nor for the functionality or quality of content produced on the 3D printer.
    • Refunds will not be issued for completed models that do not meet the customer’s expectation.
  8. Print requests will be completed and ready for collection within 5 working days of the receipt of an error free file. Customers will be notified when their print job has been completed. Files will be deleted from the system after completion of the print job. Projects not collected within 14 calendar days following notification will be disposed of.
  9. Print jobs that take longer than 4 hours will not be accepted.
