Short training courses in hospitality - Bookings now closed

Launch your career in hospitality by joining one of our short courses for just $5!

Bayside Youth Services, in partnership with the Bayside Glen Eira Kingston Local Learning & Employment Network (BGKLLEN) have organised with Short Courses Australia training for young people aged 14-25 who live, work or study in Bayside for $5.

As restrictions have eased, there is an expected increase in employment opportunities within the hospitality industry.

This training equips young people from the impacts of COVID-19 and their opportunity for employment during the upcoming summer holidays.

All courses now online

In light of recent changes to restrictions, Bayside Youth Services has taken the precautionary step to change the scheduled face-to-face hospitality training sessions and deliver these online.

A Zoom link will be emailed to registered young people. Places are still available for training sessions.

Food Safety Handler - SITXFSA001 Certificate

In this 4-hour course, participants receive a certificate in SITXFSA001 Food Safety Handling - Use hygienic practices for food safety.

This course is fantastic opportunity for young people entering the hospitality/service industry, arming yourself with the required knowledge to confidently carry out food safety standards in the workplace. This session details the storage, handling, preparation, serving, packaging, delivery of food/food products and cleaning/storage practices, it also covers legal aspects.

Key topics covered:

• The food industry, and the laws

• Food Poisonings and the effects to the communities

• Principles of food safety, including Hazard control & infection control

• Strategies to work effectively with high-risk foods

• Cleaning and sanitising techniques within the industry

Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) - SITHFAB002 Certificate

In this 6-hour course, participants receive a certificate in SITHFAB002 Responsible Service of Alcohol.

This course is great opportunity for young people entering the hospitality/service industry, as licensed venues will only hire persons with an RSA certificate. It also teaches valuable skills in understanding the responsible consumption of alcohol and the potential negative effects. This session details the sale, service, and consumption of alcohol, including legal aspects.

• The liquor industry throughout Victoria and its impacts on the community

• The facts around alcohol

• The benefits of serving and consuming alcohol responsibly

• Strategies to serve responsibly

• Signs of intoxication

• Underage challenges we all face throughout the community
