How long have you worked at Bayside Libraries?
Coming up to nine months now at Bayside and loving it.

What is the best part about your role?
The best part about my role is seeing the wonderful smiles on our patrons’ faces after supporting them while in our space, even when their queries aren't fully satisfied. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the happy families after one of my Storytimes!

What is your favourite genre to read and why?
My favourite genres to read are Fantasy and Sci-fi, because they are such wonderful metaphors on how we live. Fantasy explores our love of the past, and how we may celebrate tradition in spite of progress, represented by established systems and the rules around magic. Sci-fi looks at our future and speculates how we will interact with some new technology or idea that allows humans to gain even more mastery over nature and our environments, for better or worse.

What are you currently reading?
I just finished a Sci-fi novella "Elder Race" about a newly formed society on another planet, founded by human colonisers from Earth. They had been so far removed from Earth culture, they had established new cultural norms, more akin to medieval Europe. But there was still one remnant from Earth, a scientist that they called Wizard, who used his tech or "magic" to eliminate a past threat. However, there is a new threat that even his science cannot fathom, and how can he communicate this to the "natives" of this planet, when they don't understand what science is?
