Reducing pollutants to the bay

Bayside City Council will be installing a new stormwater filtration system at the west end of North Road near the entrance to the foreshore reserve.  Works will commence on Monday 11 October until 29 October 2021 (weather permitting).

The new system will improve drainage and trap litter and other pollutants before they enter the bay. Council has a number of these filtration systems (gross pollutant traps) around the municipality to uphold our commitment to improving the water quality in the bay and protect our cherished environment.

Access will still be available to the large car park, however there will be restricted access to the small car park area opposite the North Point Café due to construction equipment and truck movements. Signage, safety fencing and traffic control will be in place to help with community use of the reserve and public safety. Please be mindful of construction equipment and truck movements.
