Works begin at Beaumaris Art Group Studios

Bayside City Council's $4.6 million upgrade of Beaumaris Art Group Studios is officially underway.

The mid-century arts studio is undergoing a renovation focused on supporting access and inclusion and meeting the future needs of Bayside’s arts community.

This includes the construction of a Changing Places facility to support access for those with complex needs to the wider precinct, which was funded by the Victorian Government’s $180,000 Changing Places grant.

Other exciting features include a dedicated ceramics studio, a new mixed media studio and the transformation of the current pottery studio into a larger gallery space.

Bayside Mayor, Cr Fiona Stitfold said she is thrilled about the construction of an accessible and inclusive space for the arts.

“Creativity is the imagination that keeps our society vibrant. This building upgrade will ensure there is a place for all of our residents to practice art,” said Cr Stitfold.

This project aligns with our Bayside 2050 Community Vision to nurture a vibrant and connected community by promoting creativity in the arts in all its forms.

The expanded Studio has been co-designed with the Beaumaris Arts Group, architects, heritage and accessibility advisors, and arborists.

The proposed design both protects and celebrates the building and precinct’s heritage significance and natural environment.
