Join the City Nature Challenge
It is time to get outdoors and explore all the amazing biodiversity within Bayside and Greater Melbourne.
The City Nature Challenge will take place from Friday 26 April to Monday 29 April, encouraging our community to investigate the local environment.
Help represent Greater Melbourne, along with over 25 other metropolitan councils, competing on a global scale.
Take photos or sound recordings of local plants and animals using the iNaturalist app and showcase Bayside’s unique biodiversity to the rest of the world.
You can play your part in contributing to scientific research by providing valuable information from our local community.
Visit some of our magnificent environmental sites including Yakulit Willam, Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary and our beautiful foreshore.
At the end of the 2023 competition, Greater Melbourne finished 20th out of 482 cities, improving from a 33rd placed finish in 2022.
You can get prepared for the challenge by:
- Familiarising yourself with the iNaturalist app ahead of the CNC 2024
