William Street Reserve renewal

William Street Reserve sportsground on a blue sky, sunny day. Reserve sign and grass in the foreground with a white picket fence surrounding the sportsground.

We’re improving the quality and sustainability of Bayside’s sports and recreation infrastructure.

To meet the increasing need for community sport and recreation facilities, we’re renewing the surface of William Street Reserve sportsground in Brighton. From early October 2023, the sportsground will be closed for up to 12 months.

Improvements to the ground’s drainage, irrigation and surface level will improve ground integrity for all oval users and provide a safer playing surface. Works will also include the seeding of a sun and heat-resistant natural turf surface to optimise the level of use, with a new synthetic cricket pitch, and upgrades to the goal post and perimeter fencing (retaining a similar aesthetic while maintaining compliance with Australian standards).
