Billilla Mansion Lightbox project

Commissioned to produce three works for the Billilla Mansion Lightbox project, Burton’s engagement with the Council-owned site has yielded a major new series of works that communicates with a sense of drama the richness of the homestead’s lived history. This series will feature in the exhibition alongside recent figurative works from the A phantom lover series (2020) and the series of ambrotypes from her 2022 series Kingdom of pleasure which explores childhood recollections of St Kilda’s Luna Park.

Bayside City Council Cr Mayor Hanna El Mouallem said Bayside continues to build its stellar reputation for high quality arts and culture.

“Locals are thoroughly enjoying the art activations at Billilla gardens as they stroll by day or night. Alongside two exhibitions running concurrently—Jane Burton and Zoonoses—there is plenty of art and culture to immerse yourself in, right here in Bayside.”
